And so every time there is a simple family gathering at my sister’s house most of the time, the question that pops up in my mind is what to bring? I am referring to the food that we will bring that is. There are lots of good food to bring but we just have to try to budget it. We often bring food as a way of sharing our blessings to my side of the family who has always stood by us and has never abandoned me, hubby and our lil boy through our trials, difficulties and happiness. It is our way somehow of saying thank you to them. We feel blessed and so we share our blessings to my family. My second sister and I mainly sponsored the celebration of our brother’s advance birthday celebration. My SIL prepared macaroni salad and my mom brought lumpia shanghai. Hubby and I brought the birthday cake, a black forest cake from Bistro Rosario (I really love the white icing!) plus food from Mongolian Garden and chichabits from Gerry’s Grill.
What is more important for us is that most of us are present, though of course my sis and her family abroad cannot physically join us in our celebration and gathering, we know they miss us as much as we miss them. So what is more important to bring to our family gathering is our presence more than the food. The kids ~ first cousins ~ love to see each other during these family gatherings and the lil boy most especially is really happy and excited to seeing them each time.
These kids though get so techie and their bonding often ends up at my sister’s iMac and earlier at my old laptop which I left with my sister. They played PC games together and/or watch movies at the iMac. This time they watched Despicable Me and Karate Kid. I didn’t quite enjoy the first movie or it may be because I didn’t watch it all throughout. I like this family day because it was relaxing. There was a surprise ending though that caused a little commotion especially with the kids. While we were waiting for our ride home, my mom saw a small snake outside in front of the house. My dad was able to get rid of the snake. I hope there would be no more visitors like that but my sis’s neighborhood still has snakes seen around according to my dad. Well there are still some areas that are uninhabited where snakes can live and hide. I just hope they won’t show up near people and hurt anyone. Oh well we ended our family gathering when mom decided it’s time to go home and my sister still has work tomorrow unfortunately for her. So we all called it a night! We look forward to another family gathering soon!
